The People’s Advocate Office, Promo-LEX Association and the Center for Assistance and Social Protection of Victims of Human Trafficking come with a common message on the need and importance of prevention and combat of domestic violence phenomenon in the campaign "Family without violence, society without violence!".
"The purpose of this campaign is to highlight once again the important role of tolerance and respect for each other, and how these principles can unite the family and the society." declared People’s Advocate, Tudor Lazăr.
The Ombudsman also stressed that human diversity should not lead to discrimination and violence, and only through joint efforts, acknowledging and acting against acts of violence we will contribute in combating of this phenomenon.
According to Lilia Potîng, lawyer in Promo-Lex Association “The actuality and the stringency of the discussed problem is confirmed by the statistics in the field, currently, thousands of women are subjected to violence in the Republic of Moldova.”
So, according to the national survey, etch sixth women from urban locality and etch seventh woman from rural locality at least once in their life, has been subject to domestic violence. "
One of the messages which is to be transmitted within the activities of this campaign is the existence of a Law that protect the rights and interests of domestic violence victims, giving the possibility to obtain protective measures to victims as well as information which are the provisions to attract the aggressor to liability mentioned Lilia Potîng.
In its turn Lilia Gorceac, a psychologist at the Centre for Assistance and Social Protection of Human Trafficking Victims, drew attention to a serious problem like sexual violence to which children are subjects within families. "This is a major problem to grant psychological assistance to these children, because life scars remain for those who go through this inhumane experience.” What happens in the neighbor's yard is very important both for social health as well as human health of every person. "
Also today was held the first meeting of the campaign with a group of citizens from the Cojuşna locality, Străşeni district.
Within this campaign will be organized several meetings with the citizens, where lawyers, people who enjoys recognition and a public appreciation and the psychologists will address issues related to the impact of domestic violence on victims, children, family and society in general, gender-based prejudices and stereotypes that favor domestic violence as well as the legal provisions .
The campaign "Family without violence, society without violence!", initiated by the People’s Advocate Office, Ombudsman Tudor Lazăr, in partnership with Promo-LEX Association and the Center for Assistance and Social Protection of Human Trafficking Victims will be held during 15 October to 25 November 2014.
