The director of the Center for Human Rights of Moldova, Anatolie Munteanu, adviser of Parliamentary Advocate Svetlana Rusu and the consultant Gheorghe Bosîi, participated on November 6, 2014 on the round table "Mechanisms of migrants protection in accordance with standards of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR)." The event was organized by International Centre for Migration Policy Development in collaboration with the Center for Human Rights of Moldova, National Justice Institute and EU Delegation ]n the Republic of Moldova.
During the round table were discussed legal strategies in approaching of problematic aspects on the position of aliens (violation of their rights), including the application of the standards promoted by national, regional and international organizations. The need to strengthen cooperation between institutions in order to improve perception of the challenges existing in regulatory framework related to human security, migration and modalities for tackling them at the national level was stressed several times during the round table. In his speech the CHRM director Anatolie Munteanu, made reference to strengthen of cooperation between institutions as guarantor of migrants rights protection.
Cases of ill-treatment applied to migrants and accusations of detention, torture and ill-treatment from the perspective of ECHR practice (European Court of Human Rights) also constituted subjects for discussion.
In this context were discussed the case studies of immigrants in the Republic of Moldova and compared with the ECHR precedents. This subject was discussed at the meeting by CHRM employee Gh.Bosîi. S. Rusu spoke about social rights and Social Charter’s provisions regarding migration.
