The Parliamentary advocate, Tudor Lazăr attended the second panel meeting of Eastern Partnership on improved functioning of judiciary

On 17 June 2013, the Parliamentary advocate, Tudor Lazăr attended the second Panel meeting of Eastern Partnership on improved functioning of judiciary. During this meeting were discussed different topics on current situation in the field of judiciary reform and the latest developments in the concerned area in the European Union.

The main purpose of the Eastern Partnership regarding the improvement functioning of judiciary is to assist member states of the partnership to achieve the objective of efficient justice.

Quality, efficiency and independence are key components of an effective legal system. The presentation of information on these components in all member states contribute to identifying potential weaknesses and highlighting good practice as legal support in legal policy development at national and European level.

The Parliamentary advocate Tudor Lazăr appreciated the need to discuss issues related to the functioning of judiciary, fact of great importance in the context of current reforms. The experience of other countries in the field of functioning of judiciary is useful to our country for perspectives and new tools that are offered to us, consider the ombudsman. Efficiency factors of judiciary, as an indicator of the success of reform of whole system, are meant to reflect the state's legal policy developments. In this context the value of such meeting cannot be underestimated.

The Parliamentary advocate mentioned that the reform of the judiciary system is impossible without the observance of human rights, rights that the European Union put on the basis of any reforms.
