On September 29, the Ombudsman Tudor Lazăr participated in bilateral meetings with members of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance Barbara John Vice-Chairman of the Commission and its member Francois Sant Angelo which took place in the context of a roundtable Chişinău on "Combating racism and intolerance in Moldova "which will take place on 30.09.2014, and will raise issues on fulfillment of ECRI recommendations addressed to national authorities for human rights from Republic of Moldova in the report published on 15 October 2013.

Tudor Lazăr, presented the activity of the National Ombudsman Institution in prevention and combating of acts of discrimination. Promotion of combat against discrimination through various activities during the awareness campaigns carried out by the Centre of Human Rights from Moldova among a broad audience. In particular were noted the activities carried out with youth and children's on the discrimination topics. Also, the published by CHRM booklets in recent years served as a useful tool in campaigns on prevention and combat of discrimination acts.

The fight against racism, racial discrimination and intolerance is the task of the whole society, especially law enforcement bodies, the Ombudsman pointed out that jointly with the Council for the Prevention and Combat of Discrimination and Assurance of Equality, the American Bar Institution from Moldova and the UN Human Rights Adviser in Moldova Claude Kahn were analyzed the provisions of Penal Code and the Contravention Code in part targeting hate crimes and were found the necessary of improvement of legal framework in this regard. The respective objective prompted the formation of a working group, which will make the necessary proposals to be brought to the Parliament.

Tudor Lazăr, expressed his determination to continue in the future, in collaboration with mentioned institutions and other organizations from the human rights field, the activities for prevention and combat of discrimination cases.

Members of the Commission have expressed interest for the achievements of the Centre of Human Rights from Moldova and the impediments meat in the covered field, noting the active position of Ombudsman Institution in the field of prevention and combat of discrimination.
