On November 6 2014, the Center for Human Rights employee Natalia Vişanu and representatives of the Promo-LEX Asociation Lilia Potîng and Carolina Bondarciuc had a meeting with the inhabitans of Budești village. The topic of the discussion was prevention and combat of domestic violence, national mechanisms for protection of domestic violence victims.
Over 100 people present at the meeting were informed about the „Family without violence, society without violence!” Campaign’s objectives, Launched by CHRM and Promo-LEX on 15th October 2014, planned actions within it, the gravity of the phenomenon and the need to prevent and combat domestic violence. Budeşti villagers were informed about the mechanisms for victims of domestic violence protection, provided by Law nr. 45, the institutional framework created for this purpose.
Attending the meeting, the sector police chief Ion Botnari revealed that in villages there are under his responsibility exists problems linked to family violence. According to Ion Botnari, in 2013 there were 122 complaints, and in current year - 32 complaints of this kind by which on 8th were filed penal cases.
And the mayor of the locality Nina Costiuc, confirmed that in the village Budeşti exists problems with domestic violence. She welcomed the initiative of CHRM and Promo-LEX, stressing the usefulness of legal training of the population, information of the public about this phenomenon, its impact on family members, children, and the community as a whole.
The mayor of the locality Nina Costiuc as well as the director of locality’s school Sergiu Brînza, showed openness for new collaborations, inviting representatives of CHRM and Promo-LEX to come with other promotion activities of human rights in Budeşti village.
