The CHRM representatives meeting with the employees of police inspectorates Taraclia and Vulcăneşti within the campaign “Family without violence, society without violence!”.

On 24 October 2014, the Head of the Center’s for Human Rights Cahul Representative OfficeAnatolie Cravcenco in the context of campaign “Family without violence, society without violence!”, held a lecture for the post heads within the Taraclia’s police inspectorate.

At the meeting was discussed the seriousness of domestic violence - one of the most serious problems faced by contemporary society. Were mentioned current methods of counteracting domestic violence, specified in national legislation.

Participants at the meeting talked about processual difficulties, that they have to overcome but also the problems linked to people's perception of domestic violence phenomena. Reference was made tothe existing gender bias prejudices currently existing especially in rural areas

The speakers pleaded for increasing efficiency of legal mechanisms to counteract domestic violence, mentioning the role of media institutions in combating  of this phenomenon, informing the public about measures of protection for those persons who have become victims of domestic violence.

At the end of the discussion Anatolie Cravcenco expressed the CHRM’s readiness to intervene promptly in defending of victims of domestic violence rights in order to provide them all the support within limits of competence.

In the same day the CHRM’s representative hold a meeting with the Vulcăneşti police inspectorate employees. During discussions were tackled issues faced by sector policemen in providing protection to victims of domestic violence were discussed procedural aspects that should be used if it is found a cases of domestic violence.

Present policemen on this meeting were also informed about the role of People’s Advocate Office in promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
