The Campaign of tolerance promotion was carried out by the Centre for Human Rights of Moldova

During the period 15 to 30 November, the Center for Human Rights of Moldova carried out a campaign for tolerance promotion which included over 20 actions that took place in different localities of the country.

On November 15, the International Day for the Promotion of Tolerance the Centre for Human Rights, supported by "Teleradio-Moldova" launched on Radio Moldova, Direction for children, on the show "Hour of Children" a radio contest on topic: "Tolerance is democracy". The results of the contest will be announced at the shaw" children's Hour "on December 19.

Also during the reporting period the CHRM employees organized workshops on the topic: "People with disabilities: between discrimination and tolerance" at Capital city High School "Mihail Kogălniceanu", the High School from Ruseştii Noi from Ialoveni region, theoretical High School from Budeşti locality.

The activity was organized as an interactive discussion with game elements. The children meditated on the situation of persons with disabilities, discussed the difficulties, social stereotypes and prejudices that is faced by these people. Pupils shared their experience of life and stated the need for an active and open civic position for acceptance and integration of people with disabilities. Children showed compassion and understanding have realized the need for changes in attitudes both globally and at the personal level.

A cycle of meetings on the topic on promotion of tolerance with the participation of upper classes pupils from villages Congaz, Congazgic, Comrat region, Basarabeasca city were  held by the employees of the CHRM Comrat representative Office. They also took lectures on the topic of domestic violence combat at Comrat State University, Theoretical High School"D.Caraciobanu" in Comrat, the High School "D.Caraciobanu" from Comrat, High School "Mihai Eminescu" from the same locality, High School located in Cotovscoe  village, Comrat region and Gymnasium from Ciucur-Mingi villager, Cimislia region.

The concerned issue was approached by the Head of CHRM Comrat Representative Office Svetlana Mironova, at the meeting with the  citizens of Comrat city, and the Head of CHRM Varniţa Representative Office Veaceslav Ursu on the meeting with upper classes pupils from the local High School.

The employees of the CHRM Comrat Representative Office organized a roundtable with the topic "Young people and labor rights: problems and solutions” on wich were present students from the Law faculty  of the Comrat State University.

Realization of citizens rights on participation in public administration: experience and problems" was the subject of a round table held by employees of CHRM Comrat with the representatives of civil society – NGOs M-Liga”, „Vdohnovenie”, „Ecologhiceschii klub”.

Current issues regarding the social integration of veterans, the elderly, those with disabilities were discussed in the scientific-practical conference, also held in Comratwith the participation of Comrat State University academic staff and directors of shelters for the elderly in the area .

The Parliamentary Advocate, Tudor Lazăr participated to the press club “Discrimination on age criteria”organized by the Centre of Journalistic Investigations."

Within the campaign of tolerance promotion, the CHRM has held three regional meetings in north, south and center districts of the country, respectively Rişcani, Cahul and Chişinău, in whose framework were examined the situation referred to the observance of persons belonging to national minorities rights through the framework Convention.

The meeting was attended by chairmen, vice-chairmen of districts, district representatives of public institutions responsible for the respect of minority rights field, representatives of the civil society in the territory, members of the United Nations Office in Moldova and Bureau of Interethnic Relations.

On the outskirts of those set out on the mentioned meetingsthe Parliamentary Advocate Tudor Lazăr will makeproposals and recommendations to the responsible authorities in order to  improve the state of things.
