The observance of human rights between employees and inmates, the activity of the National Preventive Mechanism was the subject of discussions on the seminar made for the Penitentiary Institutions Department staff on 01 November, which was held Instructive Centre of the Penitentiary Institutions Department of the Ministry of Justice in Goian.

The officials of the Center for Human Rights of MoldovaGheorghe Bosîi and Iurie Dubenco informed the participants about the provisions of the national and international acts in the field of the combat of torture, and inhuman or degrading ill-treatment, working methods applied in the examination of complaints received from prisoners, stressing the need to respect the law in relation to the purposes and means of penal punishment and corrective means for prisoners. Working conditions of employees of the penitentiary system as a factor of influence of the relationship between PID employees and detained persons were raised by their seminar participants.

Also all presented at the event were informed on the National Mechanism for the Torture Prevention activity, methods and principles of operation, types of cooperation with the administration of penitentiaries.

The seminar was attended by 40 employees of the penitentiary institutions from Republic of Moldova.
