The Ombudsperson, Mihail Cotorobai, signed an order requesting the establishment of the Commission for selection of members of the Council of Experts in the Ombudsperson’s Institution who will monitor the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The Commission for selection is established in accordance with the Regulation on the Activity of the Council of Experts in the Ombudsperson's Institution for Monitoring the Implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, approved by the Ombudsperson on 30 December 2015. The Council of Experts is to be established in order to provide advising and assistance to the Ombudsperson's Office in the process of monitoring and implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, promotion and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.

Mihail Cotorobai, the Ombudsperson; Vladislav Gribincea, the president of the Legal Resources Centre; Ana Racu, the manager of Tdh Moldova Programme, member of UN Committee against Torture; Xenia Siminciuc, the associate for communication within the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights; Alexandru Arseni, PhD in Law, University lecturer, will be the members of the Commission for selection.

The Commission for selection is to convene a first meeting and a further press release, posted on the website www.ombudsman.md, will present the date when the procedure for submitting applications for the position of member of the Council of Experts will start. The candidates will submit their files within 30 days from the announcement of the competition. Another press release will show the results of the selection competition. Eligibility criteria and conditions of participation in the competition are stipulated in the Regulation on the Activity of the Council of Experts in the Ombudsperson's Institution for Monitoring the Implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which  is attached.
