CHILD DEFENDER

Human Rights Promotion Activity for the Pupils in “Hyperion” Theoretic Lyceum of Durlesti

“25 years since the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Importance of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child” was the topic of the activity organized on 9 October 2015 by Lilia Cerici – consultant with the Child’s Rights Protection Service from within the Ombudsperson's Office of Moldova – with the pupils of the fifth and sixth grade of “Hyperion” Lyceum from the town of Durlesti. The pupils learnt about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, its general principles, and gained an understanding of why is this Convention needed and how this document works for every child, what is it based on, what does it contain, which are those children’s rights enshrined in it, and that every child can know his/her rights and protect them by appealing to the Convention. The children also learnt about the activity of Children’s Ombudsperson. Every pupil was given a copy of the Convention and other informative materials, prepared by Children’s Ombudsperson’s Office.
