THE OFFICE OF THE PEOPLE'S ADVOCATE announces the selection of members of the Council for the Prevention of Torture

In order to protect persons against torture and other punishments or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, under the Office of the Ombudsman is created the Council for the Prevention of Torture as a National Preventive Mechanism torture under the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other punishments or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment (OPCAT).

Civil society representatives, lawyers, doctors, forensic doctors, psychologists, specialists in human rights, prison system representatives, psychiatric and public health system representatives, women and men are encouraged to apply for the selection of members of the Council for the Prevention of Torture.

The way to select Board members, organization and operating principles of the activity of the Board are set out in the Rules of organization and functioning of the Council for the Prevention of Torture, which can be accessed on the website www.ombudsman.md.
