Issues related to inclusion of children with autism were discussed at a meeting between the Ombudsperson for Protection of Child Rights, MaiaBănărescu, and the Head of the Civil Association ,,Verbina”, Ana Levinte, on July 14th.
The parties discussed the process of diagnose and treatment of autism, measures of psychological support, rehabilitation and social integration of autistic children. Also, the two talked about the urgent need for an independent diagnosis institution, as well as the creation of a database of children with autism. The issue of training of specialists in the treatment and rehabilitation of children with autism was also addressed.
During the meeting it was stated that the cooperation between the state and NGOs in solving problems of children with autism should be a strong one, and that the opportunity of taking over the international experience in this field should be capitalized.
The Ombudsperson for the Rights of the Child expressed her support for the social inclusion of autistic children and expressed the intention to work with the Association ,,Verbina”.
