The concerned action is part of the joint efforts of the national ombudsman Institution and General Billboards "Zero tolerance for torture", elaborated by CHRM, in the Prosecutor institutions in 46 towns and municipalities across the country.

The national ombudsman office elaborated and submitted General Prosecutor’s Office informative billboards with anti-torture message which are to be placed in 46 district institutions, town and municipal offices of General Prosecutor’s Office.

Mentioned billboards were realized by CHRM in the context of human rights promotion activities financed from the Strategy of Justice Sector Reform. The idea of their location inside the district, municipal, city offices was due to the role of prosecutors in the investigation of torture acts, the process in which they work with victims or potential victims of torture.

The billboards will include information related to People’s Advocate attributions inprevention and combat of torture; information about the Consultative Council of the National Mechanism for Torture Prevention activity; information about international mechanisms for combat and prevention of torture; contact data of the main People’s Advocate Office and its representative offices; informative materials of the national ombudsman institution elaborated on this topic. On this billboards will be displayed data related to the activity of the Section for torture combat within the General Prosecutor’s Office, its and district offices contact details.

Prosecutor's Office for prevention and fight against torture and ill-treatment, placement of mentioned billboards within the Prosecutor’s institutions is going to contribute to citizens better information about national and international mechanisms for torture combat, legal and institutional framework in this field.

 

Previously, CHRM has placed similar billboards in the police commissariats of the country.
