A Training for Republic of Moldova’s carabineers troops officers

On October 2, 2014 within the Military Unit Nr. 1001 of carabineers troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was held a seminar on "Human rights and fundamental freedoms its protection and their guarantee by carabineers troops".
This event took place within the activities of the People’s Advocate Office of human rights promotion. The seminar was attended by 20 officers from the seven carabineers military units of the country and representatives of the Carabineers Corps Department. Within the seminar, the principal consultant at the Centre for Human Rights of Moldova, Gheorghe Bosîi,made the following presentations: The People’s Advocate Institution of the Republic of Moldova - history, competences, its role in society; collaboration with the state authorities and the population; constitutional and legal provisions regarding fundamental rights of people and the role of state institutions, including carabineer troops in their protection; the establishment of the National Mechanism for Torture Prevention; the Republic of Moldova's commitments. Administrative, legislative and judicial measures; the carabineers role in terms of maintaining the public order, the power enforcement and limits of physical force use as well as of weapons and special means.
Within its presentations, Gheorghe Bosîi, informed the participants about the setting up history of the People’s Advocate Office in the Republic of Moldova and its working mechanisms. At the same time was stressed the important role of the carabineers in relation to the protection of fundamental rights of the population, the risks arising in this process, or the carabineers with the police troops have a duty to be in the first defense line of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
At the end of the event from CHRM to the carabineers troops Department was donated a set of informative materials regarding the activity of the Office, leaflets containing necessary guarantees for the protection of human rights.
