The Parliamentary advocate for the protection of children rights Tamara Plămădeală pleads for withdrawal from school libraries of medical family Encyclopedia volume II "sexual life", LAROUSSE collection.

Statements in this regard were made by Tamara Plămădeală to the press conference, held jointly with the doctor of medical sciences Ion Cuvşinov, protoierey, Chairman of the Synodal the moral issues of the Metropolitan Church of Moldova, Victor Pleşca lawyer from Orthodox Lawyers organization, Elena Bîtcă.

The parliamentary advocate said that she has received a collective petition signed by 500 people from different regions of the country by which the Ministry of Education is asked to urgently withdraw the mentioned book from the libraries of educational institutions. According to the petitioners, this encyclopedia is exposed in school libraries without setting limits of age and "without control".

Parents that signed this petition expresses their concern on the fact that this book can "arrive in the hands of children of any age and can affect the harmonious development of the child". They also believe that they should be consulted before submitting of this book to school libraries. On the basis of this collective petition the Parliamentary advocate made a request to the Ministry of Education on presentation of information related to how was distributed this encyclopedia to educational institutions and which are the categories of readers who have access to the specified volume.

Also, Tamara Plămădealăasked to be informed if the volume II of the encyclopedia was studied by responsible officials of the Ministry of Education before it’s convey to school libraries. The Parliamentary advocate said that after receiving a response from the Minister of Education will be asked to withdraw from school libraries of volume II of the Family Medical Encyclopedia "Sexual Life" Larousse collection.
